Max Fisher Announces Decision to Forgo Primary in District 8 House of Delegates Race, Will Not Run as a Republican in 2025
HERNDON, VA - Max Fisher, a longtime resident and community advocate of Herndon, Virginia, today voiced his concerns about the District 8 House of Delegates race and announced his decision to forgo the primary election. Fisher delineated his stance following the late addition of Indiria Massey to the race, whom he views as the party elite's choice to create chaos.
"I have chosen not to engage in a primary and that's my choice at the end of the day. I will not be running as a Republican in 2025," said Fisher.
Fisher expressed his long-standing belief that primary elections are not helping the Republican Party gain ground in Northern Virginia, criticizing the system as a waste of resources and an unfair representation of the community's needs and desires.
"The current 3 percent voter turnout should not dictate our campaign's future in November," added Fisher. "Our local Fairfax County Republican Party is led by the McLean elite who cannot fully grasp the issues we face in Herndon and District 8."
Fisher took a strong stance against the current Fairfax party's chair's leadership style, accusing her of focusing on self-promotion rather than providing tangible support to candidates. He also criticized the GOP nominee, Indiria Massey, for her lack of community engagement and understanding of the district's issues.
"Massey's lack of job experience, her focus on elite galas and far-right political excursions, coupled with her absence from the community, makes her the wrong choice for us," Fisher stated. "With her as the nominee, we are indirectly paving the way for Irene Shin to win in November."
In light of this, Fisher is considering running as an independent candidate, providing voters with an alternative choice that genuinely cares about addressing their concerns.
"I believe the voters deserve someone who isn't afraid to stand up for the real problems we face in Virginia," said Fisher. "Someone who is invested in our community, someone who is committed to making a difference, and not someone focused on a glamour life detached from the reality of our problems."
Regardless of the path he chooses, Fisher reaffirmed his commitment to Herndon and its residents, promising to work tirelessly with local leaders to improve the community.
"I am, and will always be, committed to our community, whether it's today, tomorrow, or through a more focused strategy down the road," Fisher concluded.
